SERMONS

A good science fiction movie always saves mankind from certain disaster by extraordinary and imaginative means. It will defy the commonly known laws of physics to get the job done.

Jesus defies the laws of physics, but it is not science fiction. He created the laws, even the ones we have yet to discover. The greatest of all is the transformation that happens in our life when we trust Him.

Transormation is what we all long for and what we all need.

This is the opposite of the love that God has for us. God wants our best and since He is the one that created us, He knows us better than we know ourselves.

BBC Color Logo (2)Easter is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. The reason for our faith is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If Jesus not be raised, our faith is in vain. It is safe to say that all people have faith in something. However, misplaced faith is no help at all. In fact, it can hurt.

Our faith must be in Christ alone!

I whom or it what have you placed your faith?

Christians pledge allegiance to two countries. Our world expects us to compartmentalize our loyalties so that one will not interfere with the other. Sadly, many Christians have bought into the idea as we been taught repeatedly the “separation of church and state”. The Bible teaches that our Christian citizenship engages the culture instead of being isolated from it.

There have been times when “deferred gratification” has been likened to sacrifice. Deferred gratification is the ability to wait in order to obtain something that one wants. It is the same process we use when we save our money to buy something that we really want. We put off the simpler things like eating out so we can save money to buy the more expensive items later. Dave Ramsey says, “Live like no one else now so you can live like no one else later.” It is a great concept, but it does not compare to sacrifice that our Lord taught.

I was always told when considering what stocks to buy to remember the “Golden Rule”. No, not the one that says “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, but the one that says “Buy low and sell high.” This seems to be the most important rule to remember. However, I think there is even one more important than that. It is making the decision to invest in the first place! When can talk about investing, we can analyze it and follow it, but until we participate in it we will never benefit for all the studying. The same is true about Biblical principles. They must be practiced to do any good.
